Punjab Kings Players Arrival Update: The buzz around IPL 2026 is building quickly, and Punjab Kings are gearing up to bring their full squad together. In the latest update, head coach Ricky Ponting is set to arrive in India on March 21, just in time to oversee the final phase of preparations.
According to PTI’s Bharat Sharma, Ponting’s arrival will also mark the beginning of the overseas players joining the camp. The idea is simple—get everyone settled in and ready well ahead of Punjab’s opening game on March 31.
Punjab Kings Overseas Players Arrival Update
Punjab Kings have planned a staggered schedule for their international players, making sure travel fatigue and workload are managed smartly.
- March 21: Most overseas players are expected to check in along with Ponting
- March 23: Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai joins the squad
- March 26: South African pacer Marco Jansen will be the last to arrive
Ponting Backs Jansen’s Delayed Arrival
One of the key talking points is Marco Jansen’s late entry. The tall left-arm quick was part of South Africa’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, which wrapped up earlier this month.
Instead of rushing back into IPL mode, Jansen stayed back in India briefly to recover. Ponting has reportedly backed this decision, understanding the physical toll of a packed international schedule. The team management isn’t too concerned either—they believe Jansen’s experience in Indian conditions will help him slot in quickly, even if he joins just five days before the first match.
Indian Core Already in Full Flow
While the overseas players are still on their way, the Indian group has already got down to business at the PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh. The sessions have been intense, with a strong focus on match scenarios and finishing skills, especially in the death overs.
Players already in camp include:
- Shreyas Iyer (Captain)
- Arshdeep Singh
- Yuzvendra Chahal
- Shashank Singh
- Prabhsimran Singh
- Nehal Wadhera
- Harpreet Brar
- Priyansh Arya
- Yash Thakur
Shreyas Iyer, who led the side to a runner-up finish last season, looks in great rhythm. He’s reportedly been spending extra time in the nets, fine-tuning his game and setting the tone for the rest of the squad.
With Ponting’s arrival around the corner and overseas reinforcements joining in phases, Punjab Kings are shaping up nicely. On paper—and increasingly on the field—they look like a well-balanced unit heading into IPL 2026.
